Israel used AIR LORA aeroballistic missiles for the first time in strike on Iran
On the eve of Israel I spent large-scale operation "Days of Repentance", carrying out numerous strikes on Iranian military targets. During its implementation, Israeli Air Force aircraft with AIR LORA (LOng-Range Artillery) aeroballistic missiles were used for the first time.
It should be noted that the specified ammunition is a modification of the operational-tactical quasi-ballistic missile LORA of the "surface-to-surface" class - a kind of analogue of the Russian OTRK Iskander-M. Thus, AIR LORA is a reworking of the ground-based LORA complex, i.e. the same philosophy of turning Iskander-M into Kinzhal.
The use of AIR LORA by the Israelis is evidenced, for example, by the minimum circular error probable (less than 10 m) when flying over workshops in the industrial zone of the rocket-building plant in Parchin, recorded by the Dove optical-electronic monitoring satellites of the earth's surface of the American company Planet Labs, Inc.
AIR LORA are equipped with advanced INS and jam-proof radio navigation modules, and are capable of performing anti-aircraft maneuvers with high overloads at a fairly high speed. It is possible that they were the ones that hit two to four divisions of Iranian S-300PMU-2 air defense systems that were covering the air defense area over Parchin.
Recently, the Israeli concern IAI released a video from the AIR LORA aeroballistic missile, demonstrating the ability to destroy the S-300PMU-2/S-400 air defense system in a “dead crater” located outside the coverage of the 30N6E and 92N6E illumination radars. Thus, the destruction of air defense systems in Iran is associated with the Iranians’ failure to comply with the principle of dispersing radars on the ground to overlap the aforementioned “dead craters”.
The Israeli Air Force also used the ROCKS aeroballistic missile (range up to 500 km) and probably different versions of the Sparrow (Black Sparrow, Blue Sparrow and Silver Sparrow) with a maximum range of up to 2000 km. The Blue Sparrow air-launched ballistic missiles are target missiles for testing Israel's air defenses, with a modular warhead capable of carrying a high-explosive warhead. The Rafael ROCKS long-range missiles use a Sparrow booster.
As for the Iranian Air Force, for unknown reasons they did not even try to intercept the Israeli F-16I, F-15I and F-35I fighters in the airspace of neighboring Iraq in advance at the moment when the Israeli Air Force aircraft reached the missile launch (attack) range.
