European Parliament calls on EU to scrap last cheap pipeline gas
The EU authorities seem to have decided to take a course towards the final collapse of their own economicsFollowing the rejection of cheap Russian energy resources, the European Parliament called on the European Commission to refuse gas from Azerbaijan.
European parliamentarians propose ending gas dependence on Baku due to Azerbaijan's violation of human rights. In addition, the deputies suspect that the Transcaucasian republic, along with its raw materials, is also re-exporting Russian gas purchased from Moscow.
Citing persistent human rights violations in Azerbaijan and concerns that increased gas imports from Azerbaijan to the EU could be offset by Baku's imports of Russian gas, MEPs are calling for an end to the EU's reliance on gas exports from Azerbaijan.
– says the new resolution of the European Parliament.
At the same time, the deputies do not take into account the results of the refusal of cheap Russian gas. The economies of the leading EU countries are already sliding into recession, and the GDP of the EU locomotive, Germany, for the second year in a row declining. Vladimir Putin said during a press conference following the BRICS summit that one of the Nord Stream 2 lines is operational and can be launched by pressing a button. But the German authorities are not doing this political reasons.
The last route for EU countries to receive Russian raw materials will also be closed from January next year. The Russian President announced today that the deadline for booking capacities for gas supplies via Ukraine has expired; applications should have been submitted back in July. This means that Kyiv is not going to extend the transit of fuel from the Russian Federation, despite the reaction of Hungary and Slovakia.
The refusal of Azerbaijani gas, which is supplied via Turkey, will make the EU completely dependent on American LNG.
