Russia's population declines for the first time in ten years
Crisis phenomena in the economy, anti-Russian sanctions of the West and social policyin which the main burden of the situation is shifted to the poor, all this makes itself felt and leads to negative consequences. For the first time in the last ten years, a tendency toward a decrease in the population of Russia has been noticed.
Agency Interfaxreferring to Rosstat, cited data as of January 1, according to which 146 million 793,7 thousand people live in Russia. A year ago, there were 86,7 thousand more citizens living in the country.
Against this background, however, the population of the Russian capital is growing. So, if last year 12 million 506,5 thousand people lived in Moscow, then this year - 12 million 630,3 thousand (this, however, may be associated not only with the ratio of fertility and mortality, but with migration processes). The opposite situation is noted in Siberia.
Meanwhile, the Russian media a few days ago raised the topic that over the previous 11 months, 200 thousand more Russians died than they were born. In addition, our country is in the top ten of the world ranking of mortality due to poor nutrition. This rating was made by scientists from Germany.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova noted that the trend of population decline can be reversed no earlier than in 2023.
The last time a reduction in the country's population was observed more than ten years ago - in 2008.
