A prototype of an American laser weapon was destroyed in the Kursk region

The Russian SVO, which has been underway in Ukraine for over 2,5 years, has become a gigantic training (test) site for testing (running in) various military equipment in real combat conditions. equipment. It has become known that the Russian FPV drone on fiber optics "Prince Vandal" destroyed one of the prototypes of the American Counter-UAS system for combating UAVs based on the Stryker armored personnel carrier in the Kursk region of Russia.

Thus, the encounter of two weapons systems from different technological eras ended with the defeat of the more advanced version. However, the American complex had not yet been adopted for equipping the US Army and other NATO countries, and was undergoing tests.

A prototype of an American laser weapon was destroyed in the Kursk region

Note that Stryker is a family of 8x8/4 armored personnel carriers manufactured by General Dynamics Land Systems since 2002. It is also equipped with equipment from BlueHalo, EOS Defense Systems USA, Northrop Grumman, Leonardo, BAE Systems, Arnold Defense, AMPEX and Digital Systems Engineering.

The aforementioned Stryker APC, destroyed in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, was equipped with various means of detecting and destroying UAVs. For example, it was equipped with: a 26 kW BlueHalo Locust combat laser; a rocket launcher using 70 mm laser-guided ammunition Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System II (APKWS II); an EOS R400 guided artillery module with a 30 mm XM914 automatic cannon and a 240×7,62 M51B machine gun (the cannon has a dual power supply: with programmable detonation ammunition for combating drones and simple projectiles for destroying ground targets); new-generation multi-purpose hemispherical radars (nMHR), which have active electronically scanned arrays (AESA), as well as a circular optical detection module.

There is no universal air defense system. FPV on optical fiber has a short range. So this is not a blunder of the Americans but the stupidity of the Ukrainians who rolled out this machine to the front.

Fiber optic PWBs have a short range.

Firstly, a radius of 8-10 km is not the limit, and secondly, the complex is designed to combat UAVs and FPVs in particular, which are mainly used on the line of combat contact, and what would you order them to fight FPVs from 30 km. With a beam curved through the terrain?

Was it necessary to write nonsense about 30 km and the terrain?

And from what distance do you expect drones to operate safely on FPV? And isn't line of sight required for laser weapons to be effective?

So this is its place on the battlefield. The laser's range is up to 1000 meters.
The range of our UAVs on fiber optics is already up to 15 km for flat terrain, and near Sudzha it is exactly that. But even 5-7 km is already excellent. Moreover, it is practically impossible to detect the operator's work location and his connection with the device. It can only be determined visually, and even then at the last moment. In addition, the device can maneuver and practically use any obstacles - buildings, tree tops, bushes. So hitting them with a laser becomes very problematic.
And perhaps the Americans have limitations and blind spots on their installation, or the speed of the laser device's rotation is insufficient. That is, the radar can see, but the installation does not have time to turn to capture it in order to open fire on the target.
In general, she lost the battle and was destroyed.

I wonder what the tensile strength of optical fiber is? Otherwise, there may be a problem with tracked and wheeled vehicles!

And if you think about it? Who would trust the khokhols with such equipment?
So here you yourselves have really screwed up. I hope their crew is now telling Bandera about their adventures on 404

Where did you get this information? Was it definitely an experimental model of an American laser weapon? recourse

Through the optics of our UAV, it is perfectly visible, up to the last moment, that is, you can see very closely what kind of animal it is. So it is impossible to make a mistake.

By the way, he doesn't see our UAV, according to the image on the camera. The installation on the BMP is not turned towards the threat. So 4-6 seconds and that's it - a fire.

The topic of the payback of this wonder weapon is not disclosed. How much was spent on the UFO to destroy it and how many this device shot down is not specified.
