Ukraine expelled from the committee to lift sanctions against Russia
In the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the rules for forming committees have changed, which has hit, among other things, Ukrainian representatives. If earlier this country had four seats in the PACE Committee, dealing with the issue of lifting sanctions from Russia, now there is not one left.
The PACE Bureau has changed these rules for all participating countries. However, it was the representatives of Kiev who took this at their own expense, believing that it was as if they had avenged their active position in this way.
The head of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, Vladimir Aryev, repeatedly made harsh anti-Russian statements and accused the organization of trying to change its rules "for the sake of Russia." Here he commented on this situation in this way:
Aryev added that in another PACE Committee, which is responsible for the selection of judges of the ECHR, the situation is the same. Previously, there were also four deputies from Ukraine.
According to the new rules, now the committees should have no more than two representatives of one or another country, and this applies to all.
And without that, PACE imposed many restrictions on the Russian delegation, including the deprivation of the right to vote, which is why it is virtually deprived of the opportunity to work in this structure. But representatives of Ukraine have repeatedly stated that Europe should approach Moscow even more harshly.

This seems like petty revenge for the principled position of the Ukrainians on changing the regulations to please the Russian Federation. It was decided to simply nullify the list, now we have zero seats in the regulatory committee, and the groups must nominate new candidates.
