Nord Stream 2 united the Germans

The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and Washington’s ongoing threats against Berlin have become a factor in rallying German society.

According to a survey conducted by the Forsa Sociological Institute, 73% of German residents approve the construction of a new gas pipeline.

At the same time, researchers note that 67% of respondents do not consider Nord Stream-2 to be a project that poses a threat to Germany, and only 16% of respondents expressed the opinion that the country could do without a new gas pipeline.

More than 50% agreed with the opinion of US President Donald Trump that putting the pipeline into operation would put Germany in a dependent position on Russia.

But at the same time, the vast majority (90%) see Trump’s true motives in selling American LNG to Germany.

Earlier, German officials of various ranks have repeatedly stated that the Nord Stream-2 project will be implemented regardless of the reaction and actions of the United States and that Germany has no reason to interfere in the pipeline construction process.

And the close contacts recently maintained between Berlin and Moscow show the serious intentions of both parties to implement the project in full.
