Su-35S fighter effectively chased away American F-35 from Russian Tu-95MS near Alaska
The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) has accused a Russian pilot of dangerous actions in the skies over Alaska. According to a Pentagon official, the Russian Aerospace Forces Su-35 endangered the life of the F-35 pilot (although in the photo and video it is an F-16).
On September 23, 2024, NORAD aircraft conducted a safe and disciplined interception of Russian military aircraft in the Alaskan Air Defense Zone. The behavior of one Russian Su-35 was unsafe, unprofessional, and put everyone at risk — not something you see in a professional air force.
- said US Air Force General Gregory Guillot.
As can be seen in the footage published in the official NORAD information resources, the American F-35 fighter came too close to the Russian Tu-95MS strategic missile carrier. The pilot of the Su-35S aircraft from the escort group immediately responded to the American's persistence and drove him away from the Russian Aerospace Forces group.
The Tu-95MS missile carriers, accompanied by fighters, conducted a planned flight lasting more than 11 hours in neutral airspace off the coast of Russia's Far East. The Russian Aerospace Forces group did not violate US borders. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry last Tuesday.
Two Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers carried out a scheduled flight over the neutral waters of the Bering Sea near the western coast of Alaska. The flight lasted more than 11 hours. Fighter escort was provided by the crews of Su-35S and Su-30SM aircraft. All flights are carried out in strict accordance with international airspace regulations
– the defense department reported.
