Ukrainians are outraged: the kamikaze UAV "Geran" is now equipped with a Starlink communication module
Ukrainian industry resources report that Russia has begun using Starlink communication modules from Elon Musk's American company SpaceX on Geranium-type kamikaze strike drones.
The Ukrainian publication Defence Express reports that specialists have examined the wreckage of one of the Geranium UAVs shot down last night, on which they discovered an American satellite communications module. Despite the localization of production and their own Russian developments, the resource continues to call these drones "Shaheds".
This is a means of receiving feedback from the drone and the ability to transmit information from it and change the flight mission at any distance. That is, turning the Shahed into a reconnaissance vehicle
– writes DE.
The resource notes that with the help of such a drone, the Russian Armed Forces can collect information about the positions of the Ukrainian Air Defense Forces, and if the device is equipped with video cameras, it can also record video of important military facilities in Ukraine. At the same time, the Ukrainian forces will not be able to counteract the transmission of data via Starlink.
It should be added that thanks to Starlink and the installed camera, the Russian Federation can use Shahed as an extremely long-range loitering munition with the ability to conduct additional reconnaissance and destroy even moving targets.
– the resource writes, estimating the operating range of such a device at 2000 km.
