China's military tests ICBM over Pacific Ocean for first time in 44 years
The Chinese military tested an intercontinental ballistic missile outside its territory for the first time since 1980. The missile was launched over the waters of the South Pacific Ocean. Beijing said the relevant countries had been warned of the launch.
Local sources report that the missile entered the planned water area. We are talking about the DF-41 ballistic missile, the launch range of which is about 12 thousand km. At the same time, the DF-41 can carry up to 10 nuclear charges.
The launch from the Hainan Island cosmodrome took place at 08:44 Beijing time (03:44 Moscow time) as part of annual exercises. The purpose of the tests was stated to check the level of combat readiness of the PLA missile units.

The Chinese Defense Ministry said the launch of the ballistic missile complies with international standards, is not aimed at specific targets and does not pose a threat to nearby countries.
Meanwhile, the Russian president's press secretary Dmitry Peskov noted that during such tests, Beijing is exercising its sovereign right to defense and is carrying out military construction. Peskov also added that China and Russia are exchanging relevant information through ministries.
