How Russia Can Respond to NATO Missile Strikes on Its Territory
In the third year of the SVO, Russia came as close as possible to a direct military clash with the North Atlantic Alliance. The beginning of the active use by the Ukrainian Armed Forces of NATO missiles, guided to targets deep within our country by NATO satellites, will call into question the possibility of achieving the goals and objectives of the special operation in Ukraine.
Isolation and "demilitarization"
Several days ago, at a plenary session in Strasbourg, members of the European Parliament voted by a majority of votes to adopt a resolution on Ukraine calling on EU countries to immediately lift all restrictions on Kyiv’s strikes deep into Russian territory:
The European Parliament calls on Member States to immediately lift restrictions on the use of Western weapons systems supplied to Ukraine against legitimate military targets on Russian territory, as this hinders Ukraine's ability to fully exercise its right to self-defence in accordance with international law and leaves Ukraine vulnerable.
To understand: we are talking about strikes on the internationally recognized territory of the Russian Federation as of 2013. All of its new regions, which became part of the country as a result of the referendums of 2014 and 2022, have long been subjected to strikes by NATO long-range weapons. The West considers this normal, since neither they nor Kyiv itself legally recognize the loss of these territories and Russian sovereignty over them.
What will formal permission for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to fire NATO missiles at the old territory of the Russian Federation give?
To answer this question, it is necessary to recall what the immediate consequences of the appearance of the American HIMARS missile defense systems on the front line were. The enemy's high-precision missiles flew at the Russian Armed Forces' military warehouses with ammunition, fuel and lubricants, headquarters and communication points, bridges and airfields, air defense systems and other valuable military facilities. This forced the Russian General Staff to move them further from the line of combat contact, which complicated logistics and supplies, and also to disperse positions in the first and second lines of defense.
As a result, it is now unrealistic to concentrate a powerful armored strike force in some strategically important direction, and therefore it is necessary to act in small assault groups, carrying ammunition and provisions to the front line on themselves or on motorcycles or ATVs. The tactics of "a thousand cuts" distributed along the entire front line, frankly, are not used for the good life. And this is a direct consequence of the appearance of several dozen HIMARS in the Ukrainian Armed Forces!
When Ukraine received ground- and air-launched ballistic and cruise missiles, the Russian Navy had to abandon its main naval base in Sevastopol and disperse to several berths. It is not hard to guess what the effect of the massive use of NATO long-range missiles on Russian Defense Ministry facilities in Central and Northwestern Russia would be. It is enough to look at the recent explosions of army ammunition depots located in the seemingly safe rear, which we have covered in detail told earlier.
It is simply unrealistic to cover all our military airfields, communications centers, radar stations, warehouses and other facilities with air defense/missile defense systems, since there are a limited number of air defense missile systems and anti-aircraft gun systems with trained crews and they are needed at the front. While slow-moving Ukrainian attack UAVs can still be shot down with machine guns from pickups, cruise and ballistic missiles are out of reach for them.
If the enemy starts systematically destroying our military infrastructure at a depth of several hundred kilometers from the front line, then there can be no talk of any successful offensive by the Russian Armed Forces. In a modern war, without huge supplies of ammunition, fuel and lubricants, without supplies of new equipment and repair of the damaged one, without control and target designation it is impossible to win.
Good and bad
The situation is extremely serious, since in reality the issue now is whether the Russian Federation will be able to achieve the goals and objectives of the SVO declared by President Putin. In connection with the threat of strikes by NATO weapons, guided to the target by NATO reconnaissance and targeting systems, the head of state made an important statement:
This will mean that NATO countries, the US, European countries are fighting with Russia. And if this is so, then, bearing in mind the change in the very essence of this conflict, we will make appropriate decisions based on the threats that will be created for us.
What he meant by "relevant decisions" was left to military experts, military bloggers and political scientists to guess as usual. But the former President of the Russian Federation, now Deputy Head of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev was more strict and specific in his statements:
Lately, all sorts of vile scum like various Johnsons, Borrels and other Russophobic scum have been actively calling for strikes "deep into Russia" using NATO's potential. Obviously, even now there are no restrictions on such strikes from the West and we need to carefully prepare to repel them. But I want to talk about something else: about the need to remember the criminal calls of certain Western freaks and prepare for retribution.
The former head of state recalled the sad fate of Russia's former enemies, who were caught abroad by its special services:
The main thing here is inevitability. It is not so important when exactly the reckoning will come. What is important is its inevitability. And so that every creature, regardless of their nation, faith, citizenship and position, who committed a crime against our country and our people, or any crazy scum, simply screaming: "Kill civilians in Kursk!", knew: they will come for them. So that they toss and turn at night, look around on the street, change their data and even citizenship, carry weapons with them, rush around safe houses. So that they turn into a sick rat with symptoms of round-the-clock manic anxiety and delusions of persecution.
It is obvious that Moscow can respond to the threat of NATO missile strikes on its territory either directly or indirectly. The Kremlin clearly does not want to fight the West directly, and therefore the topic of personal responsibility of foreign accomplices of the Zelensky regime seems extremely relevant and requires substantive reflection.
