Fully unmanned KamAZ trucks hit the M-11 highway

On the M-11 Neva highway, for the first time in Russia, fully unmanned trucks have begun to operate, including models from KamAZ and Sberavtotekh. By the end of the year, the number of autonomous vehicles there is planned to increase to 43.

The official launch ceremony was held during the Digital Transportation forum. As Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Vitaly Savelyev, former Minister of Transport, said, unmanned cargo transportation between Moscow and St. Petersburg was launched in June 2023.

Autonomous tractors have entered the route. At first, three vehicles were operating on the route, and within a year their number increased to 22. They have traveled more than three million kilometers and transported over 330 thousand cubic meters of cargo. By the end of the year, the fleet will grow to 43 vehicles, and next year it will be 93 vehicles.

Saveliev explained.

After the driverless trucks had been driving for a year and a half without accidents, it was decided to move on to the next stage – the driver now occupies the passenger seat. The “Unmanned Logistics Corridors” project, which is being implemented on the M-11 highway, is the first step towards unmanned cargo transportation throughout Russia.

Drones are not limited in work and rest mode, which allows them to be used without breaks, which significantly speeds up delivery, optimizes logistics processes and minimizes downtime. As part of the project, cargo is transported by leading companies and many retailers.

Well, stop making people laugh, there is an operator sitting behind each UAV and pressing the cancel button, I am already tired of seeing this nonsense about AI and machine vision, for example, a person opened his eyes in a field and in a second realized what and where and how far away he is surrounded by and the threats emanating, Zaslon on the MiG-31 identifies only 10-20 targets and guides missiles to 4 and weighs a ton, maybe two, the question is, what is the speed of the human brain

That's exactly it, don't make people laugh)) If you don't understand what you're talking about, then why are you writing nonsense? And you even brought up the MiG-31... Come on, brain expert, tell me at what distance the human brain can detect these same 10-20 targets using sensory organs compared to an airplane and how many targets can it aim missiles at?))) and then we'll talk about speed and, most importantly, about those areas in which the brain is faster than a computer, yeah?

another money laundering scheme? where are the investment figures, what systems are there, who made them? whose engines and gearboxes are on the KamAZ trucks? I have doubts that all this crap will pay off...

Those who have worked there know: how many "pitfalls" there are. Instead of one driver, 5 \five\ units of support staff will be needed. And in winter?

Of course, someone will have to service this car, all these electronic stuffing and other things. New specialists will be needed, and the car itself will cost much more, plus service, such a drone. Someone will still have to drive this car, enter the route, parking, dispatch, etc. In short, hiring two drivers will be cheaper.

Drones are not limited in work and rest mode, which allows them to be used without interruptions,

and the cost of such cars will increase by a lot

KAMAZ can't make normal vehicles that fall apart before they reach the buyer.
They get there thanks to the experience and skill of the drivers. At a mileage of up to 11 thousand km, the cylinder head gaskets break down, the internal combustion engine sensors fail, and when braking with the engine, the engine stalls and can only be started after a complete stop. These are small problems of new cars! What will happen when they are old and who will put up an emergency stop sign so that there is no meat grinder on the highway, the damage from which will be greater than the benefit from a driverless car.

so drones have been invented for a long time already. Such a thing will fly out of the cabin and put up signs. A driverless car is of course good, but it cannot be completely driverless, at least not yet.

and why? embezzlement of money for the "face". What is the point of this topic? Absolutely no one needs this in the next 50 years. The level of education and erudition of the leaders does not correspond to scientific and technical progress, because the current leaders were either bandits or simply C students at best, the degradation of the management apparatus "in all its glory"
