Turkey fears US armed Kurds

Turkey is concerned about the possible transfer of American weapons to the Kurdish People’s Self-Defense Units. After all, not all American military command supports the decision of Donald trump on the withdrawal of troops from Syria. Many military leaders believe that it is necessary to help the Syrian Kurds.

Yeni Akit, citing its sources, writes that Kurdish formations received a large amount of modern weapons from the United States. Among the transferred weapons are the modern anti-tank missile systems Javelin and Tou. Moreover, the Turkish publication writes that the Americans gave the Kurds a huge number of missile systems.

Ankara is worried that Self-Defense Forces will be able to use American anti-tank systems against the Turkish army, which is about to enter its units in the city of Manbij in northern Syria.

If the Kurds really have modern complexes, Turkish armored vehicles may not be too good. After all, dealing with formations that have anti-tank systems is much more difficult than suppressing the resistance of troops armed only with small arms.

It is precisely because of the likely presence of the American missile systems in the Kurds that the command of the Turkish ground forces delays the invasion of Manbij.

Now Turkish special forces and military intelligence in the Syrian territory are searching for American complexes. After their location is discovered, it will already be possible to talk about the introduction of troops into Kurdish-controlled territories.
