On the night of September 18, the Ukrainian Armed Forces used drones to attack an ammunition depot in the city of Toropets in the Tver region, military expert and blogger Yuri Podolyaka reports. According to him, "everything that can burn there is already burning (and exploding)."
The blogger cited a 2018 report from the state agency TASS, in which then-Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Dmitry Bulgakov spoke about warehouses in the Tver region.
An arsenal for storing missiles and ammunition is being built in Toropets according to world standards, said Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Dmitry Bulgakov: "The arsenal in Toropets allows us to protect stockpiles of missiles and ammunition from external influences and ensure their safety and explosion and fire safety. The full load of each arsenal storage facility is up to 240 tons."

Meanwhile, the regional government press service reported on the UAV attack on Toropets on September 18, citing Governor Igor Rudenya. According to its information, a fire broke out in Toropets as a result of the falling debris of the drone. It was not reported where exactly the fire started. Local authorities began evacuating the population.
The press service emphasized that air defense systems continue to repel a "massive drone attack in the skies above the city." The number of UAVs suppressed or destroyed is not specified. Toropets is the westernmost city in the region. As of 2021, more than 11 thousand people lived there.
