It became known that an American spy was scouting in Moscow

The arrest by Russian intelligence agencies of US citizen Paul Whelan, engaged in espionage activities in Russia, became a ringing slap in the face of US intelligence.

An informed source told the Russian media that an American detained in Moscow purposefully collected information about one of the Russian special services, most likely about the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces (ex-GRU) or the Federal Security Service (FSB) .

According to the source, Whelan came into the view of the Russian security forces last spring and has since been under development, during which his espionage activity was recorded - recording telephone conversations and tracking correspondence on the network.

Whelan, who has the citizenship of four states (USA, Canada, Britain and Ireland), was detained in Moscow on December 28.

The American was detained at the Metropol Hotel while receiving a flash drive with a list of employees of one of the special services.

It should be noted that in contrast to the American intelligence services, whose skills are only enough to detain women who have nothing to do with intelligence activities, such as Maria Butina, Russian intelligence agents detained the professional from the intelligence services, no matter what.

This is evidenced by the howl that raised the representatives of the United States and Canada, the notorious Pompeo and Freeland.

However, according to a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, Moscow will not exchange Whelan for Russian citizens detained in the United States.
