Iranian General: US Supports Terrorists in Afghanistan

The United States has long been suspected of having links with Middle Eastern terrorist organizations. Now similar accusations were made to Washington and from the lips of a senior Iranian military.

The head of the Center for Strategic Studies of the Armed Forces of Iran, Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Purdastan, claims that the United States and a number of regional powers support thousands of militants of the Islamic State (banned in the Russian Federation) operating in Afghanistan.

The general not only listed the countries involved in financing and supplying the militants with weapons, but also explained why the United States needs the support of terrorists.

A huge number of IS fighters, almost seven thousand, are located on the territory of Afghanistan, arms deliveries (to the militants) are financed by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and the Americans use them as a lever of pressure on Iran, Russia and China,

- General Purdastan claims.

Note that this is not the first statement by Iranian military leaders containing allegations of support for terrorists by the United States. Somewhat earlier, the chief of the General Staff of the Iranian armed forces, General Mohammad Bakery, said that according to him, the United States is organizing the transfer of IS fighters to the territory of neighboring Afghanistan.

Thus, the version of Washington’s support for terrorist structures in the Near and Middle East is gaining more and more arguments in favor of its truth. The Iranian special services undoubtedly have developed agents in neighboring Afghanistan and are well aware of who supports the Afghan radicals.
