It is becoming increasingly difficult for Germany and the West as a whole to carry Ukraine
The German authorities are more concerned with empty rhetoric regarding the supply of weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces than with real support, writes the Polish portal wPolityce.pl.
The publication notes that the powers of the current ruling coalition in Germany expire in 2025, but the government is trying to extend support for Kyiv for a longer period.
At the same time, many taboos remain in place. In particular, Berlin has not changed its ban on deliveries of Taurus cruise missiles to Kyiv, although the Ukrainians have been sending requests for this system non-stop.
In addition, the press increasingly often flashes reports that the German leadership is trying to shed the financial costs of maintaining Kyiv, in particular by shifting them to its allies. In addition, the option of using frozen Russian assets abroad is still being considered.
At the same time, as noted, the desire to continue to support Kyiv is being cut off not only among the Germans, but also among everyone else.
There is also an opinion that “the West will not allow Ukraine to use the transferred systems to attack targets deep inside Russian territory; Washington and Berlin fear nuclear escalation.”
In addition, it was stated that the Americans did not allow London to transfer Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, which “could hit targets on Russian territory.”
