The President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Bashar al-Assad, expressed a desire to visit the Crimea and Sevastopol. This happened during a conversation with the Russian delegation, who arrived on a visit to Damascus.

This was announced by one of the participants in the meeting, State Duma deputy from Sevastopol Dmitry Belik.

The Syrian leader expressed his special favor towards our country and honored the Russian delegation by meeting its representatives at the doors of his presidential palace and warmly welcoming each of the guests. During the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Syrian province of Tartus and Sevastopol, he said that he wanted to visit the Crimea and Sevastopol.

Bashar al-Assad said that after the holidays spent by his children in the Crimean pioneer camp "Artek", they showed him photos from there and shared vivid impressions of their vacation. The Syrian President believes it is wrong that Syrians going on vacation travel to Western countries, and not to Crimea. He sees great prospects in expanding cooperation between our countries in many areas, including tourism.

Dmitry Belik in the course of the conversation expressed a proposal along with cargo transportation to establish a tourist exchange between Sevastopol and Tartus.

The agreement on the development of relations between Sevastopol and Tartus was signed by the governors Dmitry Ovsyannikov and Safuan Abu Saad.
