The United States has chosen punishment for China: the latter will not like it

The USA continues the trade war with China. Despite the negative reaction of the Chinese side, Washington plans to further increase duties on the import of Chinese goods into the United States. This is the decision of US President Donald Trump, who, pursuing a protectionist policies, seeks to rid American industry of its main competitor - cheap Chinese products.

Initially, Trump was presented with a plan according to which duties were supposed to cause China damage equivalent to its imports - $ 30 billion. But the president rejected this option as too liberal and adopted another plan - to “punish” China with duties, the damage from which will double the volume of its imports. It's about $ 60 billion. In this way, Trump seeks to ensure the prevalence of American goods in the domestic market, and at the same time undermine the growing economic China's ambitions. In the list of goods for which large duties will be introduced, this time the products of the telecommunications industry prevail, which, as you know, is produced in China at a lot and at very reasonable prices. Total duties may apply to about 100 items of goods.

In Beijing, the decision of the American president, for obvious reasons, are unhappy. Thus, the Minister of Commerce of China Zhong Shan expressed concern about a possible trade war between China and the United States. Over the past forty years, trade between China and the United States has grown 232 times. The total volume of mutual investments is currently $ 230 billion. According to the Chinese side, the restrictions imposed by the United States can seriously damage bilateral economic relations and negatively affect trade.

In turn, the United States argues that the imposition of duties is a necessary measure that reminds China of inappropriate actions, namely, forcing American companies operating in the Middle Kingdom in exchange for permission to work to disclose their secrets. of technologies and production. For obvious reasons, such a behavior of China is disliked by Washington and is taking retaliatory actions.

Changes in trade relations with China can seriously affect the economies of both countries, but the United States will suffer to a greater extent, since Chinese products are now in demand in almost all world markets. Its main consumers are developing countries, Russia, East and Southeast Asia. With all the importance of the American market and the losses incurred by China, the introduction of duties will not be a crushing blow for him. But Donald Trump, it seems, is seriously set to further tighten measures and intensify the trade war. It is possible that it was for this purpose that he also made personnel reshuffles, placing Mike Pompeo close to himself at the head of the US State Department.
