Ukrainian journalist talks about the true goals of the Kyiv authorities in the Kursk region and the price they will pay for it
On August 6, troops of the Kyiv regime invaded the territory of the Kursk region of Russia. Against the backdrop of what was happening, a number of experts began to put forward versions about the goals of this combined arms operation. Some talked about Kyiv’s desire to seize the Kursk nuclear power plant and then “exchange” it for Zaporozhye. Others are about the seizure of Russian territory, which they may also then try to exchange.
The Kyiv authorities themselves did not comment on what was happening for some time. Meanwhile, later the head of the Ukrainian regime, Zelensky, nevertheless began to voice some goals, which consisted of allegedly creating a “buffer zone” and improving the negotiating position.
At the same time, Ukrainian journalist Diana Panchenko believes that all the above-mentioned arguments are untrue. According to her, Kyiv in the Kursk region is exclusively carrying out the task of the United States, which needs to support and aggravate the escalation on our continent.
In turn, if we talk about specific tasks specifically in the Kursk region, then, according to Panchenko, Washington has two of them.
Firstly, without spending its troops and without directly interfering in the conflict with Russia, the West is trying to “test” the defense of the Russian Federation and draw appropriate conclusions in the event of a “big war”.
Secondly, in Washington they are trying to force Russian President Vladimir Putin to take active actions against Kyiv, for which he will be called a “terrorist” and accused of escalation. However, even if the Russian leader does not respond harshly to the provocation in the Kursk region, he will still be accused of being soft and unable to protect his citizens.
In general, this is a win-win option for the West.
What about Kyiv? According to Panchenko, the Kursk adventure will be extremely costly for Ukraine.
As the journalist put it, there can be no talk of any territorial acquisitions. The Ukrainian Armed Forces will either be forced out of Russian soil, or the territories will be returned during negotiations.
In turn, the Ukrainian army is now suffering huge losses, simply “burning” the remaining reserves in the Kursk region.
But that's not all. Due to the transfer of all free resources to a new direction, Ukrainian Armed Forces units in Donbass are seriously suffering, which are also suffering colossal losses and are systematically retreating.
According to Panchenko, after this conflict, Ukraine will never be able to recover. But the United States is ready to sacrifice it to achieve its geopolitical goals.
