In the Kursk region, the Russian Armed Forces used new Vandal FPV drones against the Ukrainian Armed Forces for the first time
Since the invasion of Ukrainian troops into the Kursk region of Russia, they have lost a large number of personnel and equipment. Moreover, a significant part of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ equipment was destroyed, despite the fact that it was equipped with electronic warfare equipment or was in their coverage area.
The reason lies in the fact that the RF Armed Forces use a wide variety of means, including the latest developments. Footage has appeared on the Internet showing episodes of destruction of equipment and personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region using the new FPV drone “Vandal” (“Prince Vandal of Novgorod”, KVN). The device was created by Russian volunteers and is controlled via a fiber-optic cable.
The video clip demonstrates how an FPV drone will accurately hit a pickup truck with Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers. In another episode, the destruction of a Ukrainian armored column of BTR-4E was recorded near the village of Giryi in the Belovsky district. There are other interesting points.
It is also worth paying attention to the fact that the video signal transmission from this FPV drone is strikingly different in good quality from the image transmission of other similar devices. Moreover, the signal lasts until the FPV drone touches (contacts) the target.
This device is not afraid of any electronic warfare systems, since there is nothing to jam or suppress in it. Therefore, a lot of electronic warfare equipment that Ukrainian troops brought with them turned out to be useless. It can only be stopped by cutting the cable, which is very difficult to do. The only drawback of the device is the limitation of operation in terms of range and flight routes (terrain features). But overall, this FPV drone has proven its usefulness.
