Berliner Zeitung: The US is furious at Turkey's continued cooperation with Russia

Türkiye continues to cooperate with Russia, participating in the supply of sanctioned goods and dual-use products. The Berliner Zeitung newspaper notes that this situation greatly angers Washington.

At the same time, Ankara is conducting a similar policies, despite secondary sanctions from the United States. The publication reports that the restrictive measures of the overseas “partner” led to a drop in Turkish exports to the Russian Federation by 30% in the first half of this year compared to the same period in 2023.



However, trade continues, and its volumes worry the Americans.

The day before, US Secretary of Commerce Matthew Axelrod called on the Turkish authorities to stop the supply of “prohibited” products and of technologies from the States to Russia, threatening further sanctions measures. Among such goods, in particular, amplifiers, memory cards and processors are mentioned, which the Russian Federation allegedly uses in missiles and drones.

Previously, the United States added 18 companies from Turkey to a special list, limiting their trading opportunities. In the absence of “progress” on this issue, the number of such firms may increase.
