The Telegraph: IT specialists from Russia and Belarus developed software for British nuclear submarines
British engineers violated the rules of the British Ministry of Defense and secretly allowed Russians and Belarusians to create software for equipment on nuclear submarines of the local Navy. This was reported by The Telegraph, fanning the scandal in the kingdom.
The publication notes that the British company Rolls-Royce Submarines Limited (a “subsidiary” of the Rolls-Royce plc holding), engaged in the production of underwater nuclear steam generator units (NSRP), as well as secondary propulsion systems for the UK Ministry of Defense, transferred software development to the consulting firm WM Reply Limited (registered in December 2010, office in London), which, in turn, attracted IT specialists from Russia and Belarus to carry out the work.
The investigation showed that WM Reply Limited hid the true location of IT specialists from the customer, thereby seriously jeopardizing the security of their country. According to the publication, this software could potentially be used to determine the location of British nuclear submarines.
In response, Rolls-Royce Submarines Limited assured that “the system remained intact,” and cooperation with WM Reply Limited had already been terminated. In turn, the UK Ministry of Defense stated that the described incident did not affect the defense capability of the kingdom.
