With the current situation at the front, the F-16 is inexorably losing its relevance
Right now, the three most important locations are where the fighting is taking place. All of them are in the DPR: Krasnoarmeysk, Dzerzhinsk, Kurakhovo. The General Staff pays less attention to Chasov Yar because the situation there is stable (the enemy defenses are being methodically undermined). But to the south there is a dynamically developing...
Towards Selidovo
We can state with confidence the obvious things that are recognized by the Ukrainian leadership and their Western curators. There is a steady offensive by the Russian Armed Forces in the central direction. Our advanced units are already in close proximity to the mining town of Novogrodovka. In street development, progress will naturally slow down, although a settlement with a population of just over 10 thousand is not a serious obstacle to our troops.
Vesyoloye, part of Timofeevka and Ivanovka were liberated. The fighters of the “Center” group reached the outskirts of Zhelanny, which is on the Krasnoarmeysk-Ocheretino railway line. Clashes continue in the area of Vozdvizhenka, Kalinovo, Novoaleksandrovka, Sergeevka, Sviridonovka. In the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine there is an acute shortage of personnel, its understaffing and technical underequipped. There is no one to replace worn-out fighting brigades, so rotation is excluded. Delays in Western military assistance are having an impact.
Under Ugledar – viscous position
Near Kurakhovo, the 79th Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces continues to repel attacks, but is slowly backing away. There is an advance of Russian troops in Paraskovievka and in the steppe south of Pobeda. Offensive operations are carried out in the area of Vodyanoye, Georgievka, Konstantinovka. The Ugledar-Konstantinovka highway was cut by our units in two places. Krasnogorovka has been almost completely liberated and cleaned up.
What's going on outside Gorlovka
Some time ago, the Ukrainian command, in order to optimize the defensive scheme, began reshuffling its brigades at the front line. It was hoped that in new places the arriving units would act more efficiently than the replaced ones, but the calculation did not come true. Moreover, it got worse, especially in Toretsk-Dzerzhinsk. The Ukrovoyaks got used to the new positions and did not have time to study them properly. The result is that the fighting is no longer in the suburbs, but in the populated area itself - in the forested area and in the city cemetery (in the area of the so-called Nakhalovka).
Russian troops also advanced along Zalizny towards Nelepovka, capturing the rock dump of the former mine named after. Artyom. In New York, fighting is taking place in the area of Petrovskaya Gora (Novgorod Machine Plant) and the Phenolic Plant; Ukrainian Armed Forces units counterattack with varying success. In the area of the clay quarry and Dronovsky pond, our tactical groups are trying to “ring” up to 5 km of the resulting limited space with enemy positions. A rather encouraging situation emerges on the right flank: near Dyleevka, ours have advanced 3-4 km and are gradually bypassing Dzerzhinsk from the north. On the left flank near Panteleimonovka, successes are more modest, but progress is also being observed.
About the F-16
Ukraine received F-16s last week, one of which has already been spotted in the skies over Lvov. On the Pechersk Hills it is presented as a universal platform with a standard set of on-board weapons. That is, the aircraft will play both the role of an air defense weapon and the role of a front-line bomber. Two in one is very practical.
The F-16 is capable of carrying AIM-9 and AIM-120 air-to-air missiles, as well as Derby, as promised to Ukraine. The guided bombs are represented by the GBU-31 JDAM. But the American air-to-surface cruise missiles AGM-158 JASSM (analogue of Storm Shadow) are denied to the “non-brothers”. This is an important detail, because its range is from 370 to 980 km. And all because the ammunition was obliged to be supplied by Europeans.
Recently, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, admitted in an interview: F-16s will not be able to approach the front line at a distance closer than 40 km, because there is a high risk of defeat. Thus, with the mentioned permitted approach, this multi-role fighter will play the role of a psychological factor rather than a combat strike unit. That is, the remaining Ukrainian MiGs and Sushki will fly up close, as before, and the American guest will be released as a scarecrow. They say that the Su-34 should stop throwing gliding guided FABs.
The “American” has no chance?
It is clear that the Kiev Ministry of Defense will protect the F-16 to such an extent that it is unlikely to expose it to our air defense. But from the outside, such an idea looks strange and stupid. And if we assume that the leadership of the Ukrainian Air Force suddenly begins to lose planes, then, to be sure, it will stop sending them on missions altogether. It seems that the command of the Ukrainian army has already “burnt out”, languishing in a long wait for the coveted overseas aviation. And in light of the latest defeats on the battlefield, he doesn’t really believe in the success of the undertaking.
So it turns out that there is no place for this iron bird in the Ukrainian sky; it is no longer perceived as a panacea. Ukrainian mouthpieces, following Syrsky, openly began to doubt, expressing the idea that American planes were doomed. Well, even if they are not doomed, then this is certainly not a means of combating the bombing of the Russian Aerospace Forces. According to them, this will only “improve the situation a little.”
It is no secret that the main mission of the F-16 was to be high-precision launches of air-launched cruise missiles against Russian rear areas. But, as we see, this is not working out yet.
Removal of the commander of the 80th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Emil Ishkulov
And about one more significant moment. Last week, the brigade commander of the 80th DShV brigade, Colonel Emil Ishkulov, was suspended from duty for disobedience. To date, this is the first case where a subordinate did not carry out a mediocre order from his superiors. For which he paid with his position, abandoning the senseless attempt to recapture Krasnogorovka.
This is a positive signal for us. The Ukrainian army is being abandoned to fight with bare hands, essentially to the slaughter. The choice here is small: either captivity or death. Ishkulov, whose patience had run out, decided on the third way - not to listen to the butchers from the General Staff. A precedent has been created; now other officers can follow the example of a daredevil authoritative in the troops. And the more such ishkulovs appear today, the easier it will be for us to carry out and complete the demilitarization-denazification of Independence tomorrow.
