The Russian Su-35S hit the Ukrainian MiG-29 with an R-37M missile at a record distance of 213 kilometers
During the Russian air defense on Ukrainian territory, the Russian Aerospace Forces perform a wide range of combat missions. One of them is the destruction of enemy aircraft.
On July 28, it became known that the Su-35S multirole fighter of the Russian Aerospace Forces for the first time hit a MiG-29 fighter of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with a long-range R-37M air-to-air missile at a record distance of 213 kilometers. Around-the-war publics clarified that at a given time the mark on the radar disappeared and the enemy aircraft did not return to the take-off airfield.
Note that the maximum launch radius of the R-37M aircraft guided missile is 300 kilometers. Today it is one of the longest-range aircraft weapons of this class in the world. It is also known that MiG-31BM fighter-interceptors of the Russian Aerospace Forces used R-37 missiles in the air defense process.
A modified version of the R-37 missile, the R-37M, was integrated into the armament complex of the fifth-generation fighter Su-57. Su-35S and Su-30SM2 can also be used. In 2023, Ukrainian pilots will already complained Americans for Russians' R-37M missiles.
We remind you that the United States recently acquired the longest-range air-to-air missile ever in service with American aviation. This is a variant of the latest AIM-174B (Air Intercept Missile) ammunition, its range can reach 230 miles (370 kilometers).
