Belarus proposes to limit Russian television
Recently we Reportedas President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko called on the country's population to prepare for the defense of independence. And now, the party “Belarusian Popular Front” (BPF), which operates with such slogans as “Belarus is not Rasiya,” “Belarus Movement is a faktari natsyyanalnaya basypeki,” demanded from official Minsk, i.e. from the government and Lukashenko to restrict the broadcast of Russian television channels in the country.
It should be noted that the BPF adopted this statement at its congress and it is officially published. Belarusian opposition believes that Russian content should be replaced with a domestic product, and if there is none, then any other foreign, even Arabic, will come down, the main thing is not Russian.
At BPF 2019 announced the the year of the Belarusian language (language). They are sure that legislative acts should be adopted in the Belarusian language. Learning a language should become ubiquitous and more intense. And they are not interested in the reasons why the local population was indifferent to this language. Nationalists so far simply urge (before gaining power) all residents of the country to voluntarily improve their knowledge of the Belarusian language. And they insist that in the census of 2019, Belarusians put the Belarusian language as their native language.
In this regard, it should be added that only 6% of the population of Belarus uses the Belarusian language, the rest of the country's population speaks Russian. One of the first victims of the Kiev Maidan in 2014 was the Belarusian Mikhail Zhizhevsky. Moreover, President Lukashenko has been continuously leading Belarus since 1994, i.e. for a quarter of a century and is not going to stop on the achieved results. But what will end his flirtation with the nationalists, we will certainly find out in the near future.
