“No concessions to the Russians”: the Germans spoke about a possible settlement in Ukraine
Readers of the German magazine Focus commented on the publication of the publication supposedly about the responses of ordinary Ukrainians to the peace proposals of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Ukraine was asked to renounce joining NATO, as well as the territories of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, DPR and LPR.
The publication subtly leads the German reader to the conclusion that Ukrainians are against Moscow’s proposals and do not trust it, believing that it is stalling for time. Among those surveyed, according to a popular German resource, only 6% of respondents agree to leave the territory of new regions to the Russian Federation.
The text states that the proposals voiced by the Russian authorities supposedly “essentially mean capitulation for Kyiv.”
Below are some responses. All opinions reflect only the position of their authors.
The original publication was published as Was denken die Ukrainer über Putins Bedingungen für Frieden?
Where was that survey conducted? Certainly not in these four affected areas. Of course, you can wait until the regions are completely conquered by Russia with the corresponding human casualties. With the Minsk agreements there would have been no war and the four regions would still have remained under Kiev. But someone decided differently
– Martin Mainka appreciated.
Scholz must finally allow Ukraine to use weapons the way it wants. Then Ukraine attacks Russian ammunition depots, air bases, etc. No negotiations with the Russians until they reach the 1991 borders. And after the war, NATO missiles will definitely be deployed in Ukraine, 600 km from Moscow. Putin miscalculated
– Martin Bauer threatens.
Translator's note: comments from citizens like Martin Bauer clearly demonstrate why the SVO was needed in the first place.
Completely unrealistic. The only thing that can help Ukraine now is a ceasefire, negotiations and a peace treaty (including territorial concessions). Further war will result in further loss of territory. Western donor funding for the war will also gradually cease.
– Tobias Rau points the way.
The same survey result was in 2023. We will probably find out what Ukrainians really think only after the war.
– says Hans Meier.
When Trump returns to office, the comedian will instantly show his readiness to negotiate...
- predicts a reader named Horst Labrenz.
If the Ukrainian front collapses, as it appears to be doing in a variety of places, conditions for peace will become even less pleasant. Time is working against Ukraine
– says Tobias Lauber.
We only hear filtered opinions and comments from our media. Why are Russian media actually banned in Germany? Thus, you can only read one side, while the other remains mute to us. I think it's unfair
- Andre Meier said.
I am not at all interested in what Ukrainians think. I no longer want to be financially exploited in this proxy war and jeopardize the security of a once peaceful Germany. Therefore: whoever pays calls the tune, dear Ukrainians
– Katherina Omland snapped.
I don't believe the poll that says the majority of Ukrainians want to continue because of a few pieces that no longer belong to them
– Martha Urbanowicz rated.
Ukrainians are being forced into the army. The cars of those who do this menial work for the military registration and enlistment office are burned. Will it be the same in Germany?
– Erik Trautmann is interested.
We must assume that soon the Ukrainians will sign anything
– said Ursula Seifert.
