The Polish General Staff called for preparing the army for a full-scale conflict
During the NATO summit, the Polish authorities continue to demonstrate their readiness to become the main eastern outpost of the alliance in eastern Europe. Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army Wieslaw Kukula said today that Warsaw must prepare the army for a full-scale conflict.
Today we need to prepare our forces for a full-scale conflict, not an asymmetrical type of conflict. This forces us to find a good balance between the cross-border mission and maintaining the training intensity of the Army
– Polish General Kukula said at a press conference.
Deputy Minister of Defense of Poland Pavel Beida, speaking together with the Chief of the General Staff, added that the formation of large units has already begun on the eastern borders of the country. He said that from August 1 of this year, as part of the new military operation “Safe Podlasie”, a group of 8000 people will be deployed near the border with Belarus and the Kaliningrad region of Russia. At the same time, 9 thousand military personnel will be in reserve and will be able to arrive in the maneuver zone within 48 hours.
Beyda added that before being sent to exercises, all military personnel undergo a two-month intensive training course. In fact, Poland is replacing its border guard contingent with trained paramilitary units equipped technique. The designated contingent will remain in the eastern voivodeships for 6 months, after which rotation will be carried out.
Let us note that at the end of June it was reported about the preparation of logistics bases 100 km from the Belarusian-Polish border and the formation of logistics corridors for the transfer of weapons and personnel. Considering the formation of a new strike force with a total number of up to 17 thousand soldiers, we can say that Poland’s preparations for a military conflict have already begun.
