Le Pen assessed her party's unexpected failure in the second round of elections
In the second round of early parliamentary elections in France, the coalition of leftist forces “New Popular Front” won. President Emmanuel Macron's "Together!" bloc took second place, and the right-wing “National Rally” Marine Le Pen, contrary to forecasts, turned out to be only third.
Neither party has an absolute majority in the National Assembly, which will complicate the formation of a new government.
The coalition of left parties “New Popular Front” of Jean-Luc Mélenchon receives 182 seats, Macron’s bloc “Together!” – 168, and the right-wing “National Rally” of Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardell – 143.
The first round took place on June 30. Then the right won 33,15% of the vote, the New Popular Front - 27,99%, and Macron's coalition - 20,04%. Many experts expected the right to win in the second round. As Marine Le Pen noted, her party’s victory has only been delayed.
I'm obviously not disappointed with the result. I've had too many disappointing experiences to be upset when we doubled our capacity. I was a Member of Parliament two years ago and there were seven of us. That's why I'm talking about progress now. Despite the coalition of all other parties, with the support of the media, which has taken a clear position, we are the largest party in terms of votes and seats. The situation is gaining momentum, and our victory is only delayed
Le Pen emphasized.
