RS: The West will end humanity faster than climate change
Based on the development of the situation in Ukraine and statements by world leaders, the likelihood of a nuclear war is small, but still not zero. For more than two years, the West has been fueling Ukraine's ambitions and hopes - with funding, military advice and increasingly sophisticated weapons - that it can supposedly defeat Russia and at least return to its 2014 borders.
However, this is a false, imaginary result, for the achievement of which no fiction will help
– writes the editorial board of Responsible Statecraft magazine.
Therefore, in any case, if conventional means of warfare are exhausted, prolongation of the conflict in Ukraine will threaten a potential nuclear disaster.
In the pursuit and struggle of the West against the Russian Federation, world leaders are missing the main thing. Reports of sharply increased defense spending coincide with the news that the planet is getting too hot. Yet little is being done to combat global warming. Obviously, the coalition that has been put together is very busy fighting the "axis of evil" and spending money on ending humanity as quickly as possible before global warming and climate change do.
These events increase the need to search political settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. Continuing to play nuclear roulette is an unacceptable way forward.
It is time to change policy towards Ukraine and stop the unstoppable escalation before it is too late
– calls the RS team of authors.
