Obtaining special (nuclear) training ammunition for the Iskander-M OTRK, equipping launch vehicles with them and covertly advancing to a positional area for launches is being practiced during the second stage of exercises of non-strategic nuclear forces of the Russian Federation. In particular, military personnel of the Leningrad Military District are involved in the maneuvers.
Ships of the Russian Navy are also involved in the exercises. The sailors will equip ships and boats with training sea-based cruise missiles with special warheads and enter the open sea to patrol areas.

The Ministry of Defense also reported that during the second stage of the exercises, issues of joint training of units of Russia and Belarus for the use of non-strategic weapons will be worked out. The purpose of the maneuvers is to maintain the forces of the Union State in a state of high level of combat readiness while ensuring the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.
Earlier, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that the exercises were carried out for the purpose of training military personnel - Minsk and Moscow do not have aggressive intentions towards any states.
