There has been a significant increase in the number of accidents involving military helicopters in the United States. In 2024, there were already 12 such crashes, in which five people died. Newsweek magazine drew attention to the current situation.

The American publication clarifies that most of the accidents involved AH-64 Apache helicopters. Moreover, almost all incidents are somehow related to the human factor. At the same time named technique remains the most reliable and advanced of its kind and will remain in service with the armed forces of the United States and its allies for a long time to come.

To reduce the helicopter accident rate, it is planned to improve training programs. So, on April 10, an order was issued for additional training of pilots and designers. In addition, the program involves changes in diet and structure and a more effective approach to risks.

Meanwhile, one of the latest high-profile helicopter accidents was crash rotorcraft on the Iran-Azerbaijan border, carrying the President of the Islamic Republic, Ebrahim Raisi, and several officials, including Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian. The helicopter crashed into rocks at high speed, killing the people on board. The negative factors of the incident were bad weather and fog.

They don’t know how to pilot, that’s the main reason, in our squadron, really 10% could fly independently, and the rest were eternal right-wingers, when I sat down as a navigator for a departing one, they always put me in the flight, because they knew that I would back up if anything happened, so that’s it one did not have the skills to pilot, fortunately there is an autopilot, and the Iranian president was actually killed by a stupid pilot, because there is such a thing as MRVP - the minimum permitted flight altitude on the route, it is determined by the maximum altitude below which it is prohibited to fly, something like this.. .

When they pick up a rickety helicopter with a stupid pilot for the president, you want to ask, what do the others fly on?

Fu-16 pilot training costs 4-5 ml. bucks, training for an Apache helicopter pilot costs 10-12 ml. bucks, that’s the difference, it’s really more difficult to fly a helicopter, I checked it myself, but the plane literally flies itself...
