The Commander of the Navy accused the DPR of creating its own fleet
The successes of the Donetsk People’s Republic in strengthening its defense capabilities at sea became a cause for alarm for the commander of the Ukrainian Navy, one of the thirteen Ukrainian admirals, Igor Voronchenko.
In an interview with one of the German publications, the commander of the Ukrainian fleet Igor Voronchenko said:
According to the Ukrainian admiral, not far from Mariupol, the 9th regiment of the Marine Corps of the DPR is deployed, which in the republic is called the "assault regiment of the Marine Corps".
Voronchenko also added that the Ukrainian Navy had not yet had direct clashes with the Donetsk flotilla.
However, behind the feigned neglect of the Ukrainian admiral one can easily guess quite well-founded alarm.
Still, after the shameful failure of the provocation organized by him in the Kerch Strait, it may well happen that the remnants of the Ukrainian Navy in the Sea of Azov can become a trophy of the DPR fleet.
Moreover, DNR servicemen already have experience of successful struggle with the vessels of the Ukrainian Navy.
It is enough to recall the destruction of two Ukrainian boats at the end of August 2014 near Mariupol. Just where, according to Voronchenko, the “mythical” DNR flotilla was created.
