Leaving Syria, Americans can arm Kurds

0
The Pentagon is considering the possibility of transferring weapons to the Kurds. US generals are going to ask permission from President Donald Trump. If he agrees, then after the US armed forces withdrawn from Syria, the Kurdish opposition will receive not only small arms, but also anti-tank missiles and armored vehicles.

It is known that the American military command seeks to at least help the Allies - the Kurds, who, after the decision of Donald Trump on the withdrawal of American troops, actually turned out to be torn apart by Turkey. It is because of this, by the way, that the head of the Pentagon, James Mattis, resigned.

While officially in the US Department of Defense, this information does not confirm. But this is understandable. If the Americans leave the Kurds weapons, then Washington will have serious problems in relations with Ankara. Turkey has a very negative attitude towards any US cooperation with Syrian Kurds. Meanwhile, it was the United States that over the course of several years created, trained, and armed the Kurdish National Self-Defense Forces.

Since it is clear that immediately after the withdrawal of American troops, Turkey can begin its own military operation in the northern regions of Syria, the weapons that the US armed forces leave the Kurds can be used against the Turkish army.

Another fact is interesting. Now the Kurds have called for help from the government forces of Bashar al-Assad. Choosing the lesser of two evils for themselves, they preferred Damascus. But if the Americans leave weapons to the Kurds, and the Kurds cooperate with the Syrian government forces, then it is possible that some of the weapons may fall into the possession of Assad forces.
