The Pentagon confirmed that the Russian fighter really intercepted an American reconnaissance aircraft that flew along the Crimean coast. This was announced by Captain Christopher Boyer-Meader, an official representative of the US Air Force command in Europe and Africa.

The interception of the RC-135V / W, codenamed Rivet Joint, was safe and did not entail any consequences, he said. The incident took place on December 27. Boyer Meader did not specify which Russian fighter intercepted.

It should be noted that on December 27 of this year, the PlaneRadar resource, which is engaged in tracking aircraft, noted that an American reconnaissance aircraft took off from a base located in Greece on the island of Crete and flew to the coast of Crimea.

According to the media, after November 25, when there was a provocation involving Ukrainian ships in the Kerch Strait, flights of foreign reconnaissance aircraft around the Crimean coast sharply increased.
