Kurds asked Assad to protect them from Erdogan

Following a statement by U.S. President Donald Trump about the withdrawal of the US military from Syria, the Kurds feel particularly vulnerable. Now they are asking for protection from Damascus, with whom they were previously ready to fight at the behest of Washington. Kurdish forces currently control a large part of Syrian territory in the north of the country. However, the military operation proclaimed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan seriously threatens their security.

Reuters reported that the Kurdish People’s Self-Defense Forces (YPG) issued a statement asking the Syrian government to protect them from imminent danger.

They claim that they left the city of Manbija (Aleppo province) in order to continue the struggle against the terrorists of the “Islamic State” in the eastern part of Syria (banned in the Russian Federation). And in Manbij they asked to enter the Syrian army.

We invite government troops to send their Armed Forces, take control of positions and defend Manbij amid Turkish threats

YPG said in a statement.

According to the latest incoming information, the troops of the Syrian Arab Republic have already entered Manbij, which is located 25 kilometers from the Syrian-Turkish border.

Meanwhile, Turkey began to pull off heavy armored vehicles in preparation for a military operation east of the Euphrates. The pretext by which Erdogan explains his actions is standard - "the fight against terrorism." Ankara ranks any Kurds as terrorists, regardless of which group they belong to.
