Britain embarked on Russia's revenge

The UK is going to call for a boycott of the 2018 World Cup, which is due to take place in Russia this summer. The British authorities will take this step if a “Russian trace” is established in the case of poisoning a former GRU officer and British spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter. The British government cannot but react to the next failure of its special services, all the more so since Skripal’s poisoning is an excellent occasion to once again speculate about the “horrors of the Russian regime”.

Britain embarked on Russia's revenge

London did not have to think long about how to “stab” Russia this time. The British leadership remembered the upcoming championship and immediately orientated themselves in the situation. By the way, there is no doubt - the “Russian” trace will be found in any case, regardless of whether it was or not.

London started with monitoring public opinions. As a "bait", The Times published an article in which the author Edward Lucas expressed concern that British footballers in Russia might be given a substance that would negatively affect their game. However, the athletes themselves are not at all thrilled about the fact that policy trying to score points and solve some of their problems, using sport as an excuse for their provocative actions.

The fact that the story of the poisoning of Sergei Skripal will lead to the intensification of anti-Russian provocations was recently announced by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova. As we see, she was absolutely right - we are now witnessing one of these provocations with our own eyes. By the way, besides the UK, three more countries announced the possibility of boycotting the championship - Poland, Australia and Japan. Fugitive Russian intelligence officers were not persecuted there, but these countries have their own reasons for a boycott. For Poland, the anti-Russian line is traditional and has the character of a national ideology, Japan has also never been our friend, and Australia is the eternal ally of Great Britain, following in the wake of London’s foreign policy.

It is noteworthy that the boycott of the championship in London refers to the refusal of leaders and other officials and famous British to travel to Russia and attend matches. The UK team will take part in the championship, because, according to the rules of the International Football Federation (FIFA), otherwise it will not be able to play at the World Cup in 2022. Naturally, the British authorities do not want to arrange such a fate for their team. Therefore, the boycott will be “half-hearted” in nature, and its reason lies not in the sphere of sport, but in the political plane. However, Russia is unlikely to lose much from the absence of the prim gentlemen and ladies from the British government and the diplomatic department in the stands of the championship.

For all the things that Britain has done (I don’t call Great because it is not such after World War II), it must not only be sabotaged, but ... Let it work at least once for the benefit of mankind!
