Turkey is preparing a powerful offensive in Syria

In the near future, Turkey is going to begin a military operation in Syria. It will cover areas east of the Euphrates River. The purpose of the operation is known - this is the Kurdish armed forces operating in the north of Syria.

The head of the Turkish diplomatic department, Mevlut Cavusoglu, stressed that Ankara is now discussing its actions with Washington so that the withdrawal of American troops does not contribute to the strengthening of Kurdish armed forces.

It is known that the Turkish leadership is extremely negative about the Kurdish opposition operating in Syria. Ankara accuses the Kurds of terrorism and directly connects the Kurdish People’s Self-Defense Forces with the Kurdistan Workers Party, which is being persecuted in Turkey.

Therefore, Cavusoglu also declares quite openly:

We are determined to enter the east of the Euphrates as soon as possible. The US acknowledges the delay in Manbridge.

The withdrawal of American troops can significantly weaken the position of the Kurds, since until recently they enjoyed the support of the United States. It was the American army that armed and equipped Kurdish formations.

But the telephone conversation between Trump and Erdogan, which we wrote about, can put a bullet in this idyllic history of relations between Kurds and Americans.
