Poroshenko supported the anti-Russian sanctions of the European Union

For lack of the ability to influence Russia on its own, the Ukrainian president has to be content with the actions of his European partners.

Petro Poroshenko supported the decision of the EU on the extension of sanctions against Russia and called it symbolic, as he wrote on his Facebook page:

It is symbolic that on the eve of Christmas and New Years, the EU Council decided to extend economic and sectoral sanctions against the Russian Federation for aggression in Donbass

It was not without traditional pathos, which the Ukrainian president uses the same way both at international meetings, and when opening toilets in rural schools, where he is a regular guest of honor:

The real battle is yet to come, because the Kremlin is actively preparing for the next election year, namely, an attempt at revenge in Ukraine and the creation of alternative values in Europe

Regarding the symbolism of the next extension of the sanctions and their effectiveness, it is difficult to disagree with Petro Poroshenko: for Russia they are really symbolic and sometimes it seems that European leaders extend them solely at the insistence of Vladimir Putin.

As for the “real battle”, which, according to the president of Ukraine, “is yet to come,” here you should rather regret Poroshenko himself, who is waiting for a battle with his own people, regardless of whether he cancels the election or not.
