On December 21, 2018, it became known that Moscow and Beijing launched a joint competition to find the best innovations among Russian startups. The winners will receive grants, a trip to China and the opportunity to work with Chinese partners.

About it «РИА Новости» said Guo Jeni, deputy secretary general of the China International Exchange Association. She noted that the finalists will come to Beijing and visit three more provinces of the Celestial Empire, where the first Sino-Russian week of innovation and cooperation will be held.

There, finalists will meet with Chinese entrepreneurs and investors on the road show, and grants for further development will be awarded. Chinese comrades are interested in projects related to intellectual production, biomedicine, biotechnology, new energy and new materials, as well as development and environmental protection.

Guo Jeni said that this competition is being held jointly with the Science Park of Moscow State University, and it is aimed specifically at Russian startups, so absolutely all the projects presented there will be from Russia.

By the end of January next year, we will close the registration and select 200 projects, by the end of March 40 of them will be selected, they will take part in the semi-final in May 2019 in Moscow. Based on the results of the semi-final, the jury will select 24 projects to participate in the final, which will be held in China in August 2019.

- said Guo Jeni.

Guo Jeni emphasized that the choice of Russian startups by Chinese comrades was primarily due to the fact that relations between Moscow and Beijing became stable and predictable. There is a solid humanitarian and cultural exchange between countries, but at the same time, in the field of innovation and of technologies interaction is not developing actively enough.

She added that the potential of such interaction is huge, it can and should be developed, and the competition will help to create a good base for building the necessary contacts and mutually beneficial cooperation. Therefore, both parties must take full advantage of the benefits. For example, Russia has a very strong research base, and China has a large market and investment capital. So all this can be combined and used for the common good.
