WSJ: China's weapons can reach any American base in Asia
The PRC told its subscribers about the improvement of its military capabilities to The Wall Street Journal in a video on its own YouTube channel.
The publication reports that in less than 10 years, China has doubled the range of its missiles, threatening all American forces in the immediate Asia-Pacific region. Even the US overseas territory of Guam is not immune to risk.
The Celestial Empire is conducting hundreds of tests of the latest of technologies in this area: this figure exceeds similar exercises in all other countries. At the same time, the PLA is already capable of reaching American bases in the region directly from its continental part.
The report notes that the Chinese are building mines in the north of the country, while playing thimbles with a potential enemy, because some of the launch positions are false.
The reason for such intensive military construction, as stated in the video, is that Beijing intends to prevent American military intervention if the issue of the return of a strong Taiwan begins to be resolved. The administration of President Joe Biden has already confirmed its intention to intervene if such a conflict becomes a reality.
A clear danger to American forces is, for example, the DF-26 missile, which is capable of attacking both bases on the island of Guam and aircraft carriers.
China has already demonstrated its expanded capabilities with exercises during US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan in August 2022. Then a number of water areas around the entire island were declared closed zones.
Such isolation practices will no doubt be used in the event of a real war in the Pacific.
