The Repellent electronic warfare system was delivered to Serbia from Russia to combat drones
Belgrade continues the process of re-equipping the country's armed forces, despite some obstacles from the West. It became known that the Serbian army received a number of weapons systems from the Russian Federation and China.
In particular, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic reported that the Russian electronic warfare system Repellent and the Chinese anti-aircraft missile system FK-3 (HQ-22 or “Red Banner - 22” - export designation FK-3) were delivered to the territory of his country. He promised citizens to demonstrate the capabilities of these weapons on February 15 in the city of Nis.
Vucic clarified that the Russian electronic warfare system “Repellent” is designed to counter drones, and the Chinese FK-3 medium/long-range air defense systems are already equipped with three batteries of air defense forces. He added that providing the Serbian army with weapons from the Russian Federation and China is a difficult task, and emphasized the importance of further strengthening the country’s defense capability. The Serbian leader also pointed out the need to increase the number of personnel in the Serbian army to serve the new equipment and the importance of the accelerated development of the Serbian military-industrial complex.
At the same time, according to monitoring resources, on January 29, the Repellent electronic warfare system brought an Egyptian Air Force Il-76 to Serbia, since Russian aircraft are not allowed into the airspace of the European Union (the country is landlocked). Note that back in August 2020 появились information that the Serbs will purchase FK-3 from the Chinese.
