The INF Treaty discussed at the Foreign Ministry

Russia uses all its capabilities to maintain the operation of the Short and Medium-Range Missile Treaty, which the United States decided to destroy.

During a broadcast on the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow strongly opposed the collapse of the DRMSD and intends to hold a resolution in the UN General Assembly to preserve it.

In particular, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry said:

We stand for the need to preserve the treaty; it has been repeatedly recognized by the entire international community as one of the cornerstones of international security and strategic stability. Literally today, we will be at the UN for the second time trying to hold a resolution of the General Assembly that would advocate maintaining this treaty

Sergey Lavrov also noted that the United States administration continues to avoid a professional conversation about the need to comply with the terms of the agreement under the RMND.

Recall that the RMNS agreement was signed back in 1987 by the presidents of the United States and the USSR, and in October 2018 Donald Trump announced the intention of the United States to withdraw from the agreement under the far-fetched pretext that Russia allegedly does not comply with the terms of the agreement.
