The government is preparing another blow to the Russians
It’s no secret that the affairs of Russian resources exported abroad economics they don’t go well. The problems are systemic in nature; comprehensive reforms are needed to solve them. But, apparently, the economic bloc of the Government, instead of reforms, is ready to get off with another “tax maneuver”.
So far, the authorities are secreting, taking a mysterious pause until the announcement of the results of the presidential election. It is possible that the essence of the “maneuver” can scare away the voter, therefore it was decided with the announcement to wait until the formation of the new Government in order to untie his hands and allow him to quietly “maneuver”.
In the meantime, only rumors about the upcoming action are leaking into the press. Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, to a direct question about the upcoming tax reform at the Sochi Forum, grunted that, they say, it “will do good”. To whom and how, the minister found it difficult to decipher. Judging by the hints, part of the tax burden will switch from direct taxes to indirect ones. Both Siluanov and President Putin believe that this will contribute to economic growth. The Russian president says to worried entrepreneurs:
At the same time, Vladimir Putin made it clear that there would be no waiting for tax benefits on VAT from the “maneuver”. In his opinion, the Russian president, the state receives enormous damage, because under the guise of benefits in reality, a completely different type of activity and other products are being promoted than stated.
The President of the Russian Federation has not yet decided whether the VAT will be temporarily reduced or if some other incentive measures will be used. If elected, he will set this task for the new government, which will have to coordinate with the business community and adopt tax amendments before the June holidays during the spring session from May. For the sake of accelerating the process of adoption of amendments to tax legislation, the State Duma and the Federation Council this summer will leave for a well-deserved summer vacation later.
Will the next tax “maneuver” give growth to the Russian economy or, due to its impromptuness and hasty adoption, will bring her innumerable troubles, time and practice will show. According to the authorities, the “maneuver” with Russian taxes will begin on January 1, 2019.
