Erdogan: We will begin the operation in Syria, but we will not touch the Americans

Turkish President Recep Erdogan said that in the coming days, the Turkish armed forces will begin a military operation in northeastern Syria. We are talking about the territories east of the Euphrates River, controlled by Kurdish formations.





In Ankara, it was openly called the main opponents of precisely the Kurds fighting on the side of the opposition Syrian Democratic Forces (SDS). The Turkish leadership has always considered Kurdish formations to be terrorists and has not changed its position even under pressure from the United States.

It is known that the Kurdish formations in recent years are directly supported by the United States and EU countries. The Americans not only provide them with uniforms and weapons, but also assist in training fighters. In addition, among the fighters of the Kurdish troops there are many volunteers from European countries and the United States.

Erdogan specifically noted that the US military, who are in the Kurdish territories, will not be a target for the Turkish army. But the fact that Ankara decided on a military operation against the Kurds is evidence of the Turkish president’s refusal to play in Syria according to US rules.
