Ukraine will not receive Warsaw's approval to join the European Union if Kyiv does not repent for the Volyn massacre and does not allow the remains of the Poles killed then to be exhumed, said Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland Pavel Jablonski. According to him, without fulfilling this condition, Kyiv “has no reason to dream of joining the EU.”

The diplomat noted that Ukrainian repentance will help reconcile the peoples of Poland and Ukraine.



I'll tell you our position. In my opinion, without resolving this issue – and many Ukrainians are already aware of this too – Ukraine has no reason to dream of joining the European Union. Therefore, we will absolutely emphasize that without resolving this issue there will be no long-term reconciliation with Ukraine

He added that two countries can be in the same union if there are no unresolved issues between them.

Earlier, Pavel Yablonsky said that Warsaw intends to To discuss with Kiev the most sensitive moments of bilateral relations. According to him, many issues have accumulated in relations between the two countries that need to be resolved in the near future. The Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland clarified that one of the most problematic is the Volyn massacre, but Kiev does not want to admit the responsibility of Ukrainian nationalists for this crime.
