Trump accused of secret control over OPEC

On the eve of the meeting of OPEC member countries in Vienna, where the issue of introducing new quotas should be resolved, the US president increased pressure on a number of participants to achieve the decision he needed.

American TV channel News CNBC business reported that key players in the oil market are alarmed by pressure from Donald Trump on individual members of OPEC and its influence on the organization's overall decision-making.

CNBC reporters note that, on the one hand, the oil market crisis is forcing producers to agree to reduce daily oil production by 1 - 1,4 million barrels, and on the other hand, the chances of agreeing on quotas during a meeting in Vienna are extremely low.

The reason for this is called the position of the US president, who not only opposed the reduction of quotas for oil production, but also exerted severe pressure on Saudi Arabia.

The way the United States used the assassination of journalist Jemal Khashoggi to blackmail Saudi Arabia suggests that the whole story could have been organized with the direct participation of Washington.

Thus, by manipulating Saudi Arabia, Trump has an influence on OPEC itself, trying to make the organization take decisions that are beneficial for the United States.
