One of the diplomatic sources in Brussels told a Russian agency RIA News that the European Commission has proposed to increase the budget of the East StratCom Task Force from 1,8 million euros to 5 million euros in 2019.
The agency’s interlocutor noted that the decision to increase the budget has already been taken by the EU executive board and will be announced today, December 5, during the presentation of the European Commission’s plan to combat disinformation on the eve of the European Parliament elections in the spring of 2019.
According to the European Commissioner for Security, Julian King, the East StratCom Task Force group in two years uncovered more than 3,5 thousand cases of misinformation against the EU.
