Sony is working on a transparent smartphone

The uncompromising race among smartphone manufacturers continues, and already in 2019, Samsung intends to present its device with a flexible display. However, the innovation did not have time to take root among fans of mobile gadgets, as another well-known brand Sony hastened to announce the upcoming breakthrough in the industry.

It turns out that according to the patent applications filed by the company this year, the designers are actively developing a flexible smartphone, the display of which will be completely transparent. Among the options published in the document, there are not only folding screens, but also those that, like a banknote, can be folded into a tube.

However, the most interesting, of course, is the fact of transparency of the device. Like technology already tried to "drag" in Sony Ericsson, when they created a push-button phone "Purenesss". But then the transparent screen occupied only the upper part of the device, and the entire filling was hidden at the bottom. Where is the manufacturer now going to hide components, given the growing popularity of frameless smartphones every day?

Naturally, now that the technology is under development, Sony devices will not be able to compete with the latest from Samsung. However, if the brand still succeeds in implementing its plans in the future, then transparent gadgets have every chance to gain a leading position in the industry.
