Russians will be forced to live on 11 thousand a month
President Vladimir Putin signed the long-awaited law to increase the minimum wage. Now the minimum wage is officially equated with the cost of living, which is 11.163 rubles per month per adult in modern Russia.
Until recently, the minimum wage was 9.489 rubles, that is, approximately 85% of the cost of living. However, the law will enter into force only on May 1, 2018, after the presidential election. Since that time, the Russians who receive the minimum wage will be able to feel a slight increase in their income.
Recall that the problem of increasing the minimum wage was quite acute in Russia, since about 13 million Russians receive such a salary. This is a significant part of state employees - workers in culture, education, healthcare, as well as some categories of municipal employees.
However, it is possible that some enterprises will try to save on salaries for their employees by transferring them to outsourcing or by concluding civil contracts with them. We also note that the cost of living does not include utility and transport costs, which means that it will not be so easy for Russians to live on such an amount.
