Poroshenko: Deterring sailors, Russia violates the decision of the ECHR

Having sent its ships to a business that was obviously disastrous from a military point of view, Kiev continues to use the situation around their crews in its political purposes. Now Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko claims that Moscow does not comply with the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) and does not provide the necessary information about the whereabouts of the detained sailors and their health.

He also demanded that they be recognized as prisoners of war and treated with them in accordance with the Geneva Convention. In this case, according to Poroshenko, they should not be judged, as he put it, by a “criminal Russian court”. True, the question arises: is not the requirement to recognize violators of the Russian border prisoners of war an involuntary recognition that the incident in the Kerch Strait is a declaration of war by Russia?

On the air of the ICTV channel during the “Freedom of Speech” program, the President of Ukraine said:

The European Court of Human Rights has decided to provide immediate information. And today the deadline has expired when Russia should have provided this information ... Russia violated the decision of the ECHR and did not give any information, unfortunately

For its part, the Russian Ministry of Justice emphasized that the answer regarding the detention of Ukrainian sailors will be sent “within a reasonable time”, after it is possible to obtain information from the competent authorities, reports “Interfax».

It should be noted that they are currently in the Lefortovo detention center in Moscow, and three wounded continue treatment in the Sailor's Silence medical unit. All victims of the incident escaped with minor wounds, nothing threatens their lives.

As for Poroshenko’s statement, he clearly sees a desire not so much to get any additional information, but to point out once again the “wrong” behavior of Russia.
